When you find yourself walking aimlessly soaking in the beauty of that long seafront island with pebbled beaches, be sure you are in Perissa – Santorini’s black beauty. Situated 15 km southeast of Fira extending for 7 km, Perissa is known for its black sand, crystalline waters and the beaches are bustling with energy.
The dramatics cliffs in this Black Beach and the deep blue waters of the Aegean makes Perissa a much sort after temptation to visit. The beaches filled with deck chairs that can be rented from €20 to €25 for not restricted number of hours is a steal deal if you are looking just to stroll and sun bath all day as you sip your favourite beer. And if you are looking for real leisure then don’t hesitate to get a massage done.
The bright blue domed church belltower right at the centre of town happens to be a spot that one cannot miss. Right in front on the church there are small shops selling souvenirs and and two cute little cafes one known for their Gyros and the other for their Coffee.
The town takes takes a new look by the evening as the sea side shacks and restaurants sees a lot of action. While some are packed with guests having food, while somewhere the Greek music and the live bands will pull. With many options at your disposal you are spoilt for choice.
It’s the unusual colour of the sand that attracts many tourist here. As you stroll around the beach a large rocky outcrop – Mesa Vouno that arises from the sea is worth a watch. As the sun changes its direction so does this large piece of rock changes it colour. The stunning view of the rock, the way it shines shines in the dark is bound to leave you spellbound.
with much options to eat and drink around the place this happens to be a backpackers and young travellers heaven. A perfect spot for day trip or even spend a couple of days away from the hustle of city life – that’s always best.
