Asus New Baby – ZenPad 7.0

Tablets or tabs as we fondly call are the Gen X replacement for PC’s. Asus, one of the prominent Notebooks, Netbooks company has been recently in news when they launched their ZenPad 7.0.

As a travel blogger gadgets are my best company when I am out there in the world all my self-exploring newer terrains. So when I got this new toy to play with all I knew I was going to click endlessly and also its long life battery would just be my saviour for terrains where are is restricted electricity. ASUS ZenPad 7.0 Z370CG, the latest in mainstream 7 inch tablet device sees some great features with one of it’s finest feature being – interchangeable rear elements. Being of its kind in the world, this allows to add longer lasting battery or an integrated speaker within a protective tablet cover.

Just like a sleek clutch the highly portable design of ASUS ZenPad 7.0 Z370CG takes its inspiration from a ladies clutch bag, and not only that the size and thickness makes it perfect to fit into one too. It simple yet elegant leather pattern, clean lines with rounded edges gives it a perfect corporate feel that one can carry for their meeting and it doesn’t stop there, you can funk it up too.  The size gives it a comfortable grip in your palm along with ergonomic holding position.

The device is available in Black, White, Red or ‘Aurora Metallic’ shades. The tablet’s back acts as a stand for it to rest while you can watch your videos at leisure. It comes in two covers –regular textured plastic cover and the audio cover (this needs to be bought separately). The leather cover is nice and firm, giving it an elegant look.

Going by the utility factor of this device, it sees a decent amount of storage space which can be expanded with a microSD card. The card slot is located on the tablet’s back. For those focusing on primarily using the device for basic browsing – checking emails and social media and clicking few pics, this device is perfect handy and apt given the price range bracket. The 8MP rear camera along with a 2MP front camera with few options like snow mode etc makes it an interesting device to click some nice or funny moments. With a 3G micro SIM card slot, Wi-fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS, the device has no FM Radio. The camera gives you features modes like- Depth of Field, GIF Animation and so on. If you want to hear or watch your favourite movie or music video, the sound quality of the device is decently good  The cover makes it adaptable for it to fit in a landscape pattern which gives you the freedom to watch a movie or listen to music without any earphones.

Some of the features can be accessed even when the screen is locked like the Camera, Phone and Messaging. That’s great in times of emergency.

The on-screen battery life is of around 5 hours 50 minutes with the audio cover and without it is around 4 hours 20 mins. It operates on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS and its also gives you the provision to uninstall apps resulting in having only those apps that is required. The pre-installed Photo-Collage allows you makes grid images without any other external app being needed. The Power Saver is very handy as its helps you activate other power saving modes.
